Compassion is easy when it’s framed well . It’s easier to feel when we hear a pleasant story of a homeless child or see illustration of Julian, or when we see Dorothea Lange's "Migrant Mother” photographed during the Great Depression.
But what happens when the framing changes; when it’s not as beautiful, and heart-wrenching; when there’s poor decisions; when there’s an unfavorable aroma; when we see someone is living below their potential? Why is it easiest to feel compassion when we see children in devastation? I believe its because children are born with the highest potential. In order to see through the eyes of compassion, we have to see the child within the needy soul. When we can see a life under the pain of circumstances and emotional anchors, generational habits, lack of love, poor financial choices, and any other insight, I believe we start to have a vision of the unseen. We start to see the child within. We start to imagine ourselves in those same circumstances and wonder if we wouldn't turn out the same way. These aren't tangible images, these are visions. In this condition our heart begins to soften and we start to see many things, not the least of which is all that we have to be grateful for. When we see a needy person, let us try to see beyond what our physical eyes can see. Let us see how God sees us all.
With your help in bringing non-parishable food to any show, you will participate in stocking local food banks who distribute to the needy. This website will become a resource to the areas the show performs in and will list those local charitable organizations that help the needy. Together we can first see the need to feed the need.
Christmas Vision is the ability to see the unseen.
